Ever wondered what life would have been like living back in the elegant 17th century at the National Trust’s Sudbury Hall? Well, here’s your chance to literally walk in the footsteps of the serving staff and members of the Vernon family during an Upstairs Downstairs guided tour on Friday 12 September 2014.
From the luxurious upstairs world of Sudbury Hall’s elegant rooms where formal dinners and lavish high society events would have been held, to the downstairs daily kitchen and scullery duties, you will almost be able to hear the ring of service bells and scurrying feet.
Rosie Daubney, House Steward at Sudbury Hall said, ‘We love doing these tours as it reminds everyone of how times have changed. The 17th century was a world away from today’s ‘high tech’ lifestyle. It makes you wonder what times will be like in another 300 years!’
The Upstairs Downstairs tour on Friday 12 September will start at 11am until 12.30pm. Booking is advisable by calling 01283 585337 and costs £5 per person.
