Peak District To Star In Great Digital Marketing Campaign In Gulf States

Millions of potential visitors from the Gulf States are being targeted as part of a far-reaching digital campaign to promote Manchester and the Peak District as a prime international tourist destination.

The Peak District played host to a party of ten delegates from the Gulf and their escorts during filming for six short video films on the theme of Countryside is GREAT, commissioned by national tourist board VisitBritain as part of its wider GREAT Britain marketing campaign.

Chatsworth Farm Shop, Bakewell Pudding and Buxton’s classical architecture were just some of the area’s assets to be showcased during the three-day visit, from Tuesday June 24 to Thursday June 26.

Horse riding on the Tissington Trail, fly fishing on the river Wye on the Haddon Estate and adrenalin-fuelled adventures at Go Ape in Buxton will be included in the films, which will be branded as ‘From Dunes to Peaks’ and will focus on food and drink, adventure and culture.

During the three-day visit, the Gulf party was also treated to a leisurely ride through some of the area’s most beautiful countryside in a vintage taxi courtesy of Winster-based Vintage Adventure Tours.

Tourism businesses and accommodation providers across the area were involved in the visit, organised in partnership with Visit Peak District & Derbyshire, the area’s official tourist board, and promoting Manchester as the international gateway to the Peak District.

The party stayed at both Callow Hall near Ashbourne and Losehill House Hotel near Hope during the project.
