Calling all rumbling tummies and thirsty throats! The ever popular Fine Food Fair is back at the National Trust’s Calke Abbey on Sunday 16th December when the air will be full of tantalising smells and tempting treats. Local brews and fruity juices will help to wash things down, so come prepared for a real feast of delights. Why not pick up those Christmas essentials and perfect foodie gifts.
Taste and buy from a delicious line-up of locally grown, raised, baked and caught delicacies – all sourced within a 30 minute radius of the Calke estate. Calke Abbey chefs will also be cooking up some tasty dishes with the freshest local ingredients.
Philip Bittner, Visitor Experience Manager at Calke Abbey said, ‘Visitors will be able to taste their way around the exhibits with lots of nibbles to sample before buying anything. The biggest problem will be knowing when to stop and avoid spoiling your appetite for tea time!’
The restaurant will be serving up a tasty selection of fresh meals and snacks making the event a real culinary celebration.
While you’re here make sure you visit Father Christmas in his Grotto (£4 including gift) and enjoy Calke’s Christmas Chimes. Catch a glimpse inside the house and follow a Christmas trail to the church. As darkness falls, experience the house and grounds of this unique house as it is illuminated.
Calke’s Christmas Chimes Adult £4, Child £2.50, Family £12 (members free)
