Haddon Hall will be hosting the Flog It! Valuation Day. Rather like a treasure hunt, members of the public are invited to bring along up to three antiques and collectables they might be interested in selling. Once valued, the owner and a team of experts decide whether an item should go forward for auction. If the item is chosen it is sold a few weeks later – often with the owner making a tidy sum. Everyone who goes along to the Valuation Day will receive a free valuation – even if their antiques are not chosen to go forward for auction.
Previous programmes have seen a ceramic bowl, bought for £4 at a car boot sale, achieving £1,500; and a lady in Aberdeen sold a Shelley tea set for a huge £3,400! We’ve also surprised a gentleman who brought in a ceremonial cup; it later sold for an impressive £44,000!
Heidi Ellert, Series Producer says “Paul Martin and the entire Flog It! team are really pleased to be bringing the show to Derbyshire. Haddon Hall will provide the perfect setting for our valuation day event, it is a stunning and very historic location; our experts are all looking forward to offering people the chance to have their items valued in such fantastic surroundings. We all hope you will join us for a free valuation, if you’ve ever wondered how much your boot sale bargains or clutter in the loft might be worth, now is your chance to find out.”
Janet Blackburn, Hall Manager at Haddon Hall said “Hosting Flog It! is an amazing opportunity for us, normally in November we would be closed to visitors busy preparing for our Christmas opening. We are really looking forward to welcoming you to the valuation day to have your items valued in the historic home of the Manners family. The team here will be lighting the fires to keep everyone warm as being such a historic property unfortunately we aren’t blessed with the luxury of central heating!”
Flog It! will be at Haddon Hall, Bakewell. Derbyshire. DE45 1LA on Saturday 17th November from 09:30am until 4:00pm.
