To date, the Club has recorded a 12 per cent increase in bookings made by these campers for the months of September and October, compared to the same period in 2011.
And with the children’s October half-term holiday quickly approaching, the Club expects an abundance of ‘grampers’ to bring their own children and grandchildren along for some multi-generational family fun!
Last year, the Club collated its Real Richness research* in partnership with Liverpool John Moore’s University which conclusively proved that 87 per cent of kids who camp say camping in the countryside makes them feel really happy.
Interestingly, 73 per cent of adults said camping is something every child should experience – so it’s no wonder this inexpensive pastime is such a popular holiday option with families, making them emotionally richer.
The Club ran its online ‘Real Richness – The Awards’ competition this year to encourage people to share their camping experiences that link to the four pillars of Real Richness which are; Family Togetherness, Work-Life Balance, Sense of Community and Freedom.
Television presenter and outdoor enthusiast Julia Bradbury is presenting the Awards at the NEC and she said: “Camping is a great way to bring families together. I look forward to the day when I take my own child away camping and I’m sure my parents feel the same.
“There is no better buzz than some fresh air, an amazing view and time together as a family.”
Robert Louden, the Club’s Director General, added: “We’ve received so many inspiring entries for our Real Richness – The Awards competition, including many from multi-generational families.
“Thank you to everyone that entered and we look forward to revealing the winners very soon.”
‘Real Richness – The Awards’ will take place at the Experts Theatre in Hall 17 at the NEC on Tuesday, October 16 at 1pm.
