THE race is on for households looking to get their home insulated for free during 2012.
Until the end of the year, High Peak households can take advantage of free loft and cavity wall insulation – regardless of income.
The unbeatable deal is being promoted by Warmstreets, the only insulation scheme endorsed by the Borough Council.
The time-limited offer features free loft insulation for any private household – owned or rented – that has none or less than 60mm, as well as free cavity wall insulation.
Households that already have at least 60mm of loft insulation can pay a subsided price of just £99 to have it topped up to the recommended level of 270mm.
Anthony McKeown, executive councillor for community services, said: “This offer is better than free! By having loft and cavity wall insulation installed for free, you will also save money on your energy bills for years to come as your home will be easier to heat – up to £175 a year if you install loft insulation.
“It will also reduce your home’s impact on the environment”, he pointed out.
Free insulation is only possible because of government subsidies due to end in December. After that, loft and cavity wall insulation will cost several hundred pounds.
To arrange a survey, households should call Warmstreets on 0800 043 9569. If using a mobile, households should ring 0333 577 9569. Alternatively, visit www.warmstreets.co.uk.
Offers are subject to survey and depend on house size.
