CHESTERFIELD BANK HOLIDAY FUN

Segway Pirates

Visit Chesterfield Town Centre on August Bank Holiday Monday (27 August) for music, comedy and a whole host of fun.

Walkabout characters will entertain the children around Chesterfield’s main market square including stilt walking, face painting and a close up magician.  New to Chesterfield will be the Segeway Pirates who will travel in style to  impress young and old with their pirate antics.

For the adults, why not experience life as a market trader and sell your wares at the ever popular table top sale. It’s simple – book a stall from only £8, bring your unwanted goods, enjoy the market atmosphere and make some money.

The open air market and many of the town’s major stores will also be open throughout the bank holiday weekend.

Councillor Nick Stringer, Executive Member for Leisure, Culture and Tourism at Chesterfield Borough Council said: “This is a great day out for everyone with something to do for all ages.  It’s a real showcase for Chesterfield town centre so come along and support the local shops and market and enjoy the free entertainment on offer.”

Chesterfield’s famous ‘Crooked Spire’ will also be open between 10.00am and 3.30pm on Bank Holiday Monday. Experience breath-taking views of Chesterfield from the top of the tower and learn the history behind the 228 foot crooked spire.

Grab your chance to see the Reincarnated Rubbish exhibition which showcases some fun artwork made from rubbish or the find out more about the Chesterfield’s most famous resident, George Stephenson, at the ‘Father of the Railways’ exhibition.  Both exhibitions are suitable for all the family and are free to attend. The museum is open from 10.00am till 4.00pm.
