Multi award-winning Peak District hotel and restaurant, East lodge, is once again supporting the forthcoming Buxton Festival in July. East Lodge is offering visitors the chance to join its triple AA rosette accredited chef, Simon Bradley, for an exciting interactive cookery demonstration on Friday 20 July.

Talking place from 7-25 July, the 34th Buxton Festival promises to be a summer celebration of the very best opera, music, literature, and food and drink at the heart of the beautiful Peak District. As part of the festival, ‘A Taste of the Peaks’ cookery demonstrations will be taking place from 10 July; local, multi-award winning chef Simon Bradley will be showcasing his talents on 20 July in the stunning Devonshire Dome, with a small number of tickets still available, priced at just £6.

During his interactive demonstration, Simon will be showing the audience how regionally-sourced top quality produce can be used to make delicious meals at home, just like they do in a 3 AA rosette restaurant like the one at East Lodge.

“After the success of the last two years demonstrating at the Buxton Festival, Simon is really looking forward to cooking up another treat and inspiring this year’s audience,” said East Lodge Deputy Managing Director, Iain Hardman. “Now we have the chef’s table in the East Lodge kitchen, Simon and his team are well practised at talking the guests through the process of preparing complex dishes under pressure and showing off their talents to a live audience.”

During the 1970s, the Buxton Festival was known as a prominent rock venue, but the festival can trace its roots back to 1936, when an annual drama festival was held (in conjunction with London’s famous Old Vic Theatre) until 1942. Today the focus of the festival has returned very much to an arts theme in terms of performance, which includes opera, food and drink.

Passionate about food and local produce, East Lodge was yet again delighted to be involved on the culinary side this year, and to further develop its links with the event. For those who cannot wait for the Buxton Festival to sample some high quality fare from East Lodge – you can always book a table at the restaurant for an advance ‘taster’ of what is to come. For those keen to see Simon and his brigade at work and learn more about the workings of a multi-award winning kitchen, the chef’s table and taster menu is available for bookings of up to 8 guests.

Owned by the Hardman family, the multi-award winning venue has remained at the top by constantly improving its service and living by the motto that good enough just isn’t good enough. This motivation and determination for excellence has led not only to the development of the new chef’s Table, but to this former Hotel of the Year to becoming one of only 48 hotels in the country to be awarded a Visit England Gold Award. Recently East Lodge scooped the silver award at the national finals of the Enjoy England Excellence Awards for Outstanding Customer Service and have been voted Readers choice in the Westside Restaurant of the Year Awards 2011.
