bakewell music festival

Set in the small market town of Bakewell in the heart of the Peak District National Park and now in its third year, The Bakewell Music Festival  will return with added Children’s activities and Workshops.

The Bakewell Music Festival has been founded by two like minds friends, Stuart Carter-Smith and Jonathan Rowlands.     With a passion for all that is good in all forms of live music they have endeavored to stage an event that will please a live audience.

Stuart, who runs the International Guitar Festival ( also known as Gossington ) in Gloucestershire, also tours as a lead guitarist for Gypsyfire, who are appearing at this year’s festival. Jonathan has previously managed Rod Stewart and promoted the likes of Tom Jones, Engelbert Humperdink and Nina Simone. He recently had a star studded concert – The Wonderful World of Captain Beaky – in aid of UNICEF UK on Sunday 11 December 2011 at the Royal Albert Hall

This year, the festival is being headlined by Seth Lakeman and Gypsyfire and has now become an annual feature, seeing a range of live music from light rock, blues and bluegrass, through to folk on the Main tent stage and 20 new artists on the separate Acoustic tent stage. There are ‘open mike’ sessions Ukulele and workshops all over the weekend

The festival also includes a shopping village, Children’s entertainment, locally sourced ales, ciders and some of the best festival food in the north.

On Sunday 12th, the Acoustic Idols Competition will take place.  If you see yourself as a singing star, bring along your guitar or ukulele and enter the audience judged competition. The winner will appear on the main stage at next year’s festival – so last year’s winner appearing on Saturday on the main stage this year it is Sarah White

This is a family friendly event, so don’t forget to bring the kids. Children 15 or under (accompanied by an adult) will be admitted free.
