Renishaw Hall in Derbyshire is marking the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee – what’s set to be a historic weekend – with a number of celebratory events for all the family.
Alexandra Sitwell, owner of Renishaw Hall, said; “I am delighted Renishaw Hall is taking part in the Jubilee celebrations in such a symbolic way. For example, never before in Renishaw Hall’s 400 year history, has a beacon been lit on its roof. It will be a great spectacle and we look forward to welcoming visitors here to the Hall to help mark the Diamond Jubilee”.
1st June – Outdoor cinema – bring a picnic, and with the impressive backdrop of the Hall, watch Oscar-winning The King’s Speech on a giant inflatable screen as part of Quad’s Summer Nights Film Festival.Gates open 7.30pm. 2nd June – Escafeld String Quartet – performance of popular and classical themes in the Gardens throughout the day. Free with garden admission.
QUAD Outdoor Cinema Screening – The Queen. Gates open 7.30pm.
3rd June – The Big Jubilee Lunch Party – join the nationwide lunch party with a fabulous feast for all ages. Artists and musicians will entertain. From 12noon, booking essential through the events office.
4th June – Renishaw Hall’s Jubilee Beacon – see Renishaw Hall join the nationwide chain of light, ended by The Queen in London. Beacon number 1742 of the 4000+ being lit across the country on Monday, June 4th to mark HM The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, will shine from the roof of 400 year old Renishaw Hall across the north Derbyshire countryside.The beacon will be lit by Alexandra Sitwell, owner of Renishaw Hall. Come and celebrate the beacon at Renishaw Hall, free, from 8pm, food and drink available. The gardens will also be open until dusk, at a special reduced rate of £4 per person, children £2.
5th June – Renishaw Hall Horse Carriage Pageant – A fantastic procession and display of historic horse-drawn carriages from across the country. See the 19th century Renishaw carriage, last used for Alexandra Sitwell’s wedding. Starts at 2pm.
Renishaw Halls’ new exhibition – Royalty and Renishaw – will be open throughout the Jubilee weekend and until the end of the season, charting the fascinating links between the Sitwell and Royal families.
